There is one cookie, and only owners ever get it: the one that keeps you signed in after you use a sign-in link. It is strictly necessary for the service you asked for, which is why no consent is needed. It lasts 90 days and is renewed while you use the service.

Your choice of light or dark theme is remembered in your own browser and is never sent to us.

In the widget on your site

The widget sets no cookies at all, and it never reads or writes your site's own cookies.

It uses the browser's local storage only for things the visitor does themselves: remembering the random ID created when they first vote or add an idea, which ideas they have voted for, and when they last opened the updates panel so the unread count is right. Nothing is written just because somebody visited a page.

When a visitor chooses to add an idea, the check that they are a person runs inside a small frame served from latestnote.com, so it works on any website.

Storage used only to provide something the visitor has asked for is exempt from consent rules. That is why adding Latest Note to your site does not mean adding a banner.

Other companies' pages

Cloudflare Turnstile, the check that a person is signing in or adding an idea, and Stripe, on its payment and billing pages for Beacon and Broadcast, may set their own strictly necessary cookies to do those jobs securely.

What there is none of

No advertising cookies. No tracking cookies. No analytics cookies — the visitor counts on latestnote.com and on the public pages we host come from Sereno, which uses none.
